A former classroom teacher, curriculum developer, correlations specialist, K-12 product editor, and print and digital product developer for Pearson and Curriculum Associates (i-Ready), Johanna currently serves as CEO and Co-Founder for EvoText, an award-winning educational software development house. Her team at EvoText has built systems worth $100+ million dollars of revenue for satisfied educational publishing customers across the industry including College Board, Larson Texts, 2U, and Carnegie, to name a few. Johanna holds an Ed.M. in International Education Development from Boston University and a B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Michigan. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Leadership and Learning from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. In 2016, Johanna was named to the exclusive AAP list of promising education professionals who are “On the Rise” and demonstrate remarkable leadership and innovation in the education resource industry. She has been named CEO of the Year - Startup by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) for 2017 and the EdTech Digest Leader Setting a Trend for 2018.
Chris has worked in educational technology for almost 20 years. At Follett (formerly Interactive Constructs), he helped develop the Lycea platform, which is still used at Harcourt/Riverdeep, Pearson, Scholastic, Curriculum Associates, and Triumph—serving millions of students. After Follett, Chris joined Curriculum Associates as the Director of Product technologies, where he managed a project to create a cutting-edge interactive educational product (i-Ready), lead the charge in re-designing and engineering the company’s e-commerce website, and developed the company’s first Content Management System. Chris then brought his expertise to Digitas, where he expanded the business with existing clients by presenting new technology ideas, strategies and capabilities. In 2012, he used his wealth of experience and entrepreneurial spirit to start EvoText with Johanna Wetmore to address the shortfalls he saw in educational software and “solve as many of the digital classroom and eLearning content problems as we can.” Since then, the company has grown tenfold and the products EvoText has created for clients are used by more than 8 million educators and students. Chris holds Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and English from the University of Massachusetts.
Brendan is an experienced, hands-on software architect involved in the architecture, design, and implementation of microservices architectures, service-oriented architectures, and distributed systems in J2EE and other technologies. He has been in the software industry since the mid-90’s with an exclusive focus on end-to-end software development and delivery. Prior to joining Ogment, he worked for RR Donnelley, Follett Software, and Lightbridge, creating cloud-based content management, eLearning, fraud detection, and business process management systems for clients including, AT&T, Sprint, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Toyota.
Maureen is responsible for financial reporting and analysis, cash forecasting and management of business operations. Maureen has more than 20 years of financial leadership experience. Prior to EvoText, she spent over 15 years as Principal for her own accounting consultancy firm, maintaining the financials for business clients in the banking, insurance, educational, software, and entrepreneurial sectors. She served for two years as Corporator for Belmont Savings Bank (BLMT : NASDAQ), transitioning to her current role as a member of the BSB advisory board. Maureen brings a unique perspective to her role from an educational standpoint, having served for three years as Treasurer, and continuing her role as financial consultant to CNS, a community nursery school in her hometown of Lexington. She spent a semester studying abroad at SAIIE in Seville, Spain, and received her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Carroll School of Management, Boston College.
With backgrounds in both Human Resources and teaching, Meg has carried her unique experience with her to the EvoText team. She oversees the Human Resource functions for EvoText, including all health and ancillary benefits, employee relations, and supporting the executive team. She received her BA in International Studies and Political Science with a minor in History from Stonehill College. Meg also holds a Master of Public Administration from Suffolk University and a Master of Arts in History as well as her teaching licensure from Salem State University.
Annette brings 20 years of educational publishing and technology experience to the EvoText team. She began her career at Holt, Rinehart and Winston and held several leadership roles as the company was acquired by Harcourt and eventually became Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. She has led teams in charge of application development, publishing applications and tools, content development (digital and print), support and training. An expert in facilitating user adoption of software solutions, implementation of comprehensive training and support, contracts management and negotiation, as well as application and process development, Annette has most recently served as an independent consultant for several educational technology companies. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Western Illinois University.
